Paula Akana anchors KITV4 News at 6 & 10 Monday through Friday. She began her career at KITV as an intern in 1983.

She also hosts the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, the Queen Lili'uokalani Keiki Hula Competition, and the Kiho`alu slack key guitar festival.

She can be seen on Good Morning Hawaii at 6:15 am with her Hawaiian Word for the Day.

Paula is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

In her spare time, Paula serves as a volunteer for the Polynesian Voyaging Society. She serves on the Steering Committee for 'Imi Hale a Native Hawaiian Cancer Awareness Network, the Executive Committee for the Native Hawaiian Leadership Project, and is a board member of the University of Hawaii Alumni Association (UHAA).
